President and Mrs. Carter appreciate the many gifts they have received from around the world. Since there is not enough space at The Carter Center to display all of them, a few of these items
are made available through this special event to support the work of The Carter Center. Values expressed in this catalog represent certified appraisals, estimates based on sales of comparable
items at previous Winter Weekend auctions, or sales of similar items from Internet sites such as eBay. Any amount paid above the stated value will be considered a donation and will be tax-deductible.

The United States completed construction of the Panama Canal in the early 1900s, and the canal opened in 1914. 1980 CHRISTMAS GIFT PRINT |
During the Carter presidential administration, a limited number of handsome gift prints were produced each year to give to White House staff, Cabinet members, and friends. This 18 x 24-inch print depicting the White House covered in snow was issued for the 1980 Christmas gift and is signed by both President and Mrs. Carter. It includes a special handwritten note, “With gratitude for your contributions to our nation …we will never forget your friendship and support.” The framed drawing is by Howard N. Watson, artist in residence at the White House during the Carter administration, and is numbered 28 of 500.
