"A Conversation with Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter" Kicks Off the 98/99 Season of "Conversations at the Carter Center"

ATLANTA, GA.... Former President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter will participate in a sold-out, open forum at The Carter Center on Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, from 7:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m. President and Mrs. Carter will discuss the work they have done in the past year through The Carter Center and engage in a Q&A session with audience members. Tickets for this popular event have been sold-out for weeks.

"Conversations at The Carter Center" is a series of four programs designed to increase awareness of national and global issues. Tickets for each event are $6.00 per person. Each year President and Mrs. Carter start the series off with a public forum that spotlights their work on various projects of the past year. The audience is encouraged to ask questions.

The remaining schedule for the 1998-99 season follows:

  • Oct. 28, 1998, "Spirituality and Social Change: Improving the Health of Communities,"
  • Jan. 28, 1999, "Crusaders for Peace: the Role of Nongovernmental Organizations in the World Community,"
  • May 13, 1999, "Breaking Through the Stigma: Portrayal of Mental Illness in the Media."
