ATLANTA….Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter will address a sold-out audience during "The Carters on the Record," the inaugural event of the 2006-2007 Conversations at The Carter Center series. The event also will be webcast live Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at www.cartercenter.org.

The Carters will discuss Carter Center projects around the world including initiatives in disease eradication, conflict resolution, democracy building, and mental health promotion. The event will be moderated by Carter Center Executive Director Dr. John Hardman. The public's questions may be submitted in writing at the event or in advance via e-mail to carterweb@emory.edu. All Conversations will be held in the Ivan Allen Pavilion of The Carter Center, located at One Copenhill, 453 Freedom Parkway, in Atlanta. Click here for directions.

The next Conversations event, "A Moment of Crisis: North Korea," is set for Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and will feature Dr. Marion Creekmore, author of "A Moment in Crisis: Jimmy Carter, The Power of a Peacemaker and North Korea's Nuclear Ambitions." Creekmore will be joined by President Carter and former U.S. Ambassador to South Korea James Laney. The trio will discuss how President Carter's intervention in the 1994 North Korea nuclear crisis averted a war and produced lessons for dealing with rogue regimes today.

Conversations at The Carter Center is an annual series of evening programs designed to increase public awareness on issues of national and global importance as they relate to the Center's work. Distinguished panels of Carter Center experts and special guests make presentations followed by question-and-answer periods with the audience. No tickets or reservations are required for Conversations events following Sept. 12, which are free to the public, on a first-come, first-seated basis. All Conversations will be webcast live on the Carter Center Web site. The full Conversations schedule may be found at
