Trachoma Control Program (2008) Trachoma is the leading cause of preventable blindness worldwide. The Carter Center, with support from its partners, has been a leader in the fight against the disease in Africa since 1998. Through inexpensive, grassroots solutions, millions of people are now able to preserve their eyesight.
