Protecting Human Rights in the Democratic Republic of the Congo
Intimidation, violence, and human rights abuses remain daily threats to the lives of citizens in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Field representative Sophie Borel explains how The Carter Center has been working in the DRC since 2007 to protect human rights and support civil society organizations and how those efforts will continue in the aftermath of the nation's 2011 elections, as tensions escalate in an already fragile Congolese society.
