Statement by Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter

On the Death of Liz Carpenter

Rosalynn and I are saddened to learn of the death of Liz Carpenter, who was the assistant secretary of education for public affairs during my administration. Her political acumen and counsel to Democratic presidents through the decades was incomparable. A strong voice for women's rights, she had a hand in many of the most important accomplishments of the past four decades. We extend our condolences to her family at this time of grief.
