ATLANTA - In recognition of Delta's support for The Carter Center and its initiatives, President and Mrs. Carter dedicated the lobby of the Center's Ivan Allen III Pavilion to Delta Air Lines during a ceremony Nov. 17 at 11 a.m. at The Carter Center.

"The Carter Center is proud to be partners with Delta, which has supported our work to advance peace and health worldwide for more than 20 years," said former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. "Delta represents the finest example of corporate global citizenship."

"We are very pleased to be recognized by President and Mrs. Carter, whose work demonstrates the importance of giving back to the community," said Tony Charaf, senior vice president - Technical Operations for Delta Air Lines, and a member of the Carter Center's Board of Councilors. "Delta's commitment to the City of Atlanta and the State of Georgia is strengthened every year by the men and women who continue to play an active role in our communities. Whether donating time and money to corporate charities or supporting local schools, Delta employees are making a difference."

The lobby named for Delta Air Lines is enjoyed every day by visiting heads of state and guests who attend The Carter Center for business meetings and social gatherings. A nongovernmental organization, The Carter Center has advanced peace and health in more than 65 nations. The Center has strengthened democracies worldwide, helped farmers double or triple grain production in 15 African countries, worked to prevent or mediate international conflicts, prevented unnecessary diseases in Latin America and Africa, and strived to diminish the stigma against mental illnesses.
