Educational Programs

The Carter Center offices in Atlanta have reopened to staff with COVID-19 protocols in place. For the spring 2022 session, our Educational Programs will offer interns and graduate assistants the option to telecommute or work in person at our Atlanta offices or a combination of the two. Anyone working in person will be required to follow the same protocols as Carter Center staff -- proof of vaccination, masks, and social distancing. At this time, we are hopeful that our summer 2022 session will be held fully in person, but this decision will be made closer to the start date. If you have any questions, we encourage you to reach out to us at

For more than 35 years, the Carter Center Educational Programs have provided more than 3,500 interns and graduate assistants with a rewarding complement to classroom experience. Carter Center interns and graduate assistants come from around the world and make vital contributions to the Center's work. In turn, the Center provides a substantive learning experience that serves as a basis for the students to explore their career options and attain professional skills. The goal of Educational Programs is to develop an informed and skilled work force committed to advancing peace and health worldwide.

Effective August 2021, the Carter Center internship will be a paid opportunity.
