Jimmy Carter to Make Remarks at American Death Penalty Symposium Nov. 12

President Carter will make opening remarks at the National Symposium on the Modern Death Penalty in America on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

This event will be the culmination of the American Bar Association's eight-year endeavor to examine the fairness and accuracy of various death penalty jurisdictions in the United States. The group also will discuss whether such improvements seriously address the profound concerns raised nationwide relating to innocence, equal protection, and due process.

Featured speakers besides President Carter include ABA President Jim Silkenat; President of the Southern Center for Human Rights Stephen B. Bright; the Hon. Boyce Martin, recently retired from the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals; and former Texas Governor Mark White.
