Forum on Human Rights

  • Protestors march in the streets.

The Center's Forum on Human Rights hosts virtual roundtable discussions to help strengthen international standards for human rights and amplify the voices of individuals defending those rights in their communities worldwide.

To foster collaboration on human rights advancement and amplify human rights defenders’ voices, the Human Rights Program created The Forum on Human Rights. This online tool facilitates interactive conversations – both public and private – among human rights defenders, experts, policymakers, and the public around the world by:

  • Hosting live roundtables on pressing issues and highlighting innovative approaches to advancing human rights
  • Facilitating collaborative action among disparate stakeholders
  • Disseminating information from defenders and experts through a searchable resource library
  • Producing video profiles of defenders and of successful collaborative efforts

A visitor to The Forum on Human Rights may watch roundtables and view resources and discussions without being a forum member. Members of the public can become a forum member to contribute insights to conversations promoting respect for human rights and enhancing the human dignity of all. Members have their own personal dashboard to track their activity on the site, can comment on moderated live roundtables and archived discussions, and can create and curate their own discussions in coordination with the Carter Center’s Human Rights Program staff.
