Madison Bearden assists with the national trachoma control programs supported by The Carter Center across Africa. Her activities include overseeing research projects, training and development of study teams, managing policies and procedures, and coordinating administrative needs. Bearden has an extensive background in trachoma and Guinea worm disease. She was a qualitative analytics and epidemiology assistant for the Trachoma Control Program while in graduate school. After graduation, she served as a technical advisor for the Guinea Worm Eradication Program in Ethiopia. Bearden earned a master’s degree in global health from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from Augusta University.
