Women, Peace, and Security in Sudan: Priorities for a Sustainable Future

When

March 18, 2026 10:30am – 1:00pm EDT

This virtual parallel event will present the Carter Center’s Women, Peace and Security (WPS) report on Sudan, with a particular focus on findings related to justice and accountability emerging from consultations with Sudanese women since the outbreak of the current conflict.

The discussion will convene Sudanese women leaders and practitioners who contributed to the research, creating a space for them to share their perspectives on justice, accountability, and other current priorities for women affected by conflict.

Drawing on their experiences working with communities across Sudan and in displacement contexts, the speakers will reflect on the impact of the ongoing war on women and communities, the importance of justice and accountability, and the role of Sudanese women in shaping responses to these challenges.

The event aims to elevate Sudanese women’s voices at a critical moment and contribute to ongoing global discussions on how justice, inclusion, and accountability can inform responses to the crisis in Sudan.
