Lance Alloway

Director of Development, Peace Programs

Lance Alloway oversees institutional fundraising efforts for The Carter Center’s Peace Programs, seeking support from and stewarding strategic relationships with governments, foundations, corporations, multilateral organizations, and other nonprofits. Alloway leads a team committed to supporting the Center’s Democracy, Conflict Resolution, Human Rights, and Rule of Law programs.

Before joining the Center in 2008, Alloway served as a senior design, monitoring, and evaluation officer for Catholic Relief Services’ Aceh Tsunami Recovery Program in Indonesia. From 2000 to 2004, he served as Indonesia country director for the Internews Network, overseeing projects to strengthen broadcast journalism and media law. Previously, he worked with Management Systems International, Chemonics International, and other international development consulting firms.

Alloway holds a master’s degree in international development from American University in Washington, D.C., and a bachelor’s degree in history and international relations from Western Illinois University.
