Carter Center Condemns Violence in Minnesota

ATLANTA — The Carter Center condemns the killing of Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and the shooting of Minnesota State Senator John A. Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all Minnesotans at this difficult time.

Political violence runs counter to everything we stand for as a nation. It aims to sow fear, silence voices, and undermine democracy. We call for all Americans to stand in unified opposition to this devastating attack and to affirm the fundamental American value of free expression without fear of violence and intimidation.
