Statement from Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter on the Passing of Princeton Lyman

Rosalynn and I are saddened to learn of the passing of Princeton Lyman. He deftly represented the United States as an ambassador to Nigeria and later to South Africa at critical points in both the history of those nations and in U.S.-Africa relations. He will be remembered for his many years of distinguished diplomatic service that helped improve relations between the United States and Africa. He also generously helped launch and lead an initiative at The Carter Center to advance regional security cooperation among African countries, China, and the United States. We extend our condolences to his family and friends.
