Statement from Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter on the Death of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan

Rosalynn and I are saddened to learn of the death of our friend Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Sheikh Khalifa’s leadership was instrumental in the growth and modernization of the United Arab Emirates and in its becoming a strong ally of the United States. We are grateful for his friendship, and we join the Al Nahyan family and the Emirati people in mourning his passing.
