Women, Peace, and Security in Sudan: Priorities for a Sustainable Future

Sudanese women have long been at the forefront of humanitarian response, often stepping into leadership roles in the face of extreme adversity. However, their contributions to peacebuilding remain severely marginalized. Carter Center research in 2025 found there is an urgent need to integrate gender-sensitive approaches into peace processes so that women’s needs and perspectives are incorporated at every stage of rebuilding Sudan.
