Yes. The Carter Center is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization (Tax ID: 58-1454716) incorporated in the state of Georgia in 1982. Contributions by U.S. citizens and companies are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

Yes. The Carter Center will mail or email you a receipt for each contribution you make.

In fiscal year 2024, 92% of Carter Center expenses supported the Center’s Health and Peace programs, 3% supported fundraising activities, and 5% supported the Center’s administration.

An outside accounting firm conducts an annual audit of The Carter Center, which is published in our annual report. In addition, an all-volunteer board of trustees oversees the work of the Center, sets policies and procedures, and monitors the budget and expenditures.

The Carter Center does not sell, rent, or trade the names or addresses of its current donors, and we will never share email addresses.

Please note, however, that the Center occasionally rents its postal mailing list of inactive (no gift in the last five years) donor names to other organizations to raise additional funds to support Carter Center efforts. Yes. Online donations are handled by Blackbaud Inc. on behalf of The Carter Center, and all information you provide as part of the transaction is encrypted to prevent theft and interception. A key or a closed lock displayed on your browser status bar indicates you have a secure connection when you enter the online donation page.

The Carter Center will send regular mailings and newsletters to keep you updated on how your gift is making an impact, as well as invite you to Center events.

You always have the option to decrease the frequency or opt-out entirely of postal mail and/or email. Every Carter Center email will have a link to update your email preferences or unsubscribe. In fiscal year 2023, 71% of Carter Center support came from corporations (includes in-kind gifts); 14% from foundations; 6% from governments (U.S. and foreign); 7% from individuals; and 2% from other revenue.
