Carter Center Statement on the Passing of Ambassador Jim Laney

ATLANTA (Aug. 13, 2026) — The Carter Center mourns the passing of Ambassador James T. “Jim” Laney, a distinguished diplomat, educator, faith leader, and longtime friend of the Center whose leadership and service advanced peace and understanding around the world.
