Carter Center Weekend: Trip Information
Dates: June 21-25, 2023
Location: Atlanta
About Atlanta
Atlanta is known as the capital city of the Southeast. It was founded in 1837 as the end of the Western & Atlantic railroad line. Nearly 200 years later, as a modern city, it remains a transportation hub for the country and the world.
Atlanta honors the ties to its past. In the 1960s, the city was a nexus of the civil rights movement. Atlantans such as the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Rev. Ralph D. Abernathy, Congressman John Lewis, Ambassador Andrew Young, and the Rev. Hosea Williams envisioned a new South. They believed in peace and worked for it. Today, as the home of The Carter Center, The King Center, and the Center for Civil and Human Rights, Atlanta continues these traditions. This city’s diversity, grassroots efforts for racial equality, and advocacy for human rights ensure that as Atlanta forges its way into the future, we never lose sight of the values of these esteemed leaders.
Guest Amenities
Guests will enjoy round-trip airfare (originating within the continental United States), ground transportation, four nights at the Loews Atlanta Hotel, all meals throughout the long weekend, a hotel activity gift card, a souvenir event bag, a group photograph, access to two auctions with one-of-a-kind collectors’ items, and an unforgettable experience.
Delta Air Lines will continue as our three-decade-long community partner and the official airline of the Carter Center Weekend. A memorable evening excursion is planned at the fabulous Delta Flight Museum and visits to several of Atlanta’s most important historic sites.
Cost
The event package cost of $3,750 per person includes all the above, which will be centered at the Loews Atlanta Hotel, where all presentations and most meals will take place. Suites are available for an additional cost.
For children 5-12 years of age, the cost is reduced to $2,500 per child if they stay in the room with a full-price guest. There is no cost for younger children to attend, but they must be registered. There will be additional air transportation costs for children ages 2 years and up.
The Carter Center will coordinate flights; Delta will be given priority. The package cost covers economy-fare tickets on the most direct route available. Some flights with special routing or upgrades will incur added costs.
A day rate of $1,100 per person per day is available for stays of fewer than three days. The day rate includes an overnight stay but does not include airfare. Saturday-only attendance is limited and available for $1,600.
Deposit and Timetable
A deposit of $1,000 per person will hold your place. If deposit is received by February 15, 2023, a $100 discount off each package price will apply. An invoice for balance due will be sent six weeks prior to the event.
Please register early, as space is limited. We will accept reservations on a first-come, first-served basis with a paid deposit until the event is full. Registration will close when capacity is reached, regardless of date, and a waiting list will be created. Those on the list will be notified as space becomes available.
Tax-deductible
$1,000 of each full-price ($3,750) package is considered a tax-deductible donation to The Carter Center. For the day rate, $250 per day is tax-deductible. Appropriate documentation will be provided after the event.
